Superb example from the hallowed terroir of Pauillac, intense with good structure and mellowing tannins to finish.
Deep intense colour with bouquets of black and red fruits and intriguing touches of liquorice. The palate also displays the black fruit notes of blackberry, currant and cherry with rounded spice, roasted mocha notes and cedar all encased in good structure with evident but mellowing tannins.
Established in the 18th century on the banks of the Gironde all of the 40 hectares of vineyard lie firmly within the Pauillac appellaltion, neighbouring such renowned estates as Mouton, Lafite and Pontet-Canet.
Average vine age is 25 years old, planted on typical gravelly soils of Pauillac. Harvest took place when grapes reached optimum ripeness levels and were rigorously selected from select parcels.
After hand harvesting and further hand selection the wine is aged in French oak for 18 months prior to release
