Multifaceted aromas of ripe plum, bright red berry, leather and underbrush jump from the glass. The intense palate delivers crushed red cherry alongside notes of black pepper, clove, sage, mint, liquorice and balsamic notes. It has great energy thanks to brisk acidity and decisive tannins. Drink 2020-2040.

Established in 1993 by Tino Colla (brother of the legendry Beppe Colla) and his niece Federica, Poderi Colla is very much a family affair and continues the Colla family's three centuries of winemaking heritage in northern Italy. Tino and Federica believe in a non-interventionist approach to winemaking, to give each wine a unique expression of site and vintage, and they take sustainability and the environment as seriously as their wines. They produce wines from three outstanding sites in Alba and cover nearly the entire spectrum of Alba styles - using their own grapes from vineyards in Bricco del Drago, Tenuta Roncaglie (Barbaresco) and Tenuta Dardi le Rose (Barolo). The wines are balanced, rich and complex.

This very special wine is from a single vineyard called Dardi le Rose, on the hill of Bussia, a historically renowned site for great Barolo. The vines planted in 1985 are grown at 300 - 350 metres above sea level, with a southern /southwesterly exposure. The grapes are harvested mid-October.

Manual harvesting, destemming, crushing and maceration with the skins for 12/15 days at a maximum temperature of about 30 °, with complete malolactic fermentation before winter. In spring it passes in oak barrels for a period between 24 and 28 months.

Perfect pairing with robust pasta dishes, game, red meat and even rich fish. If in doubt truffle dishes pairs beautifully!

2010 Barolo: A modern day classic! Critics have come out of the woodwork to taste, review and score 2010 Barolo, and their consensus was unanimous - this is an epic vintage, whose signature soaring aromatics, profound flavor profile and age-worthy structure is as exciting as it gets for Italian wine. Antonio Galloni was among the first to raise the flag with his reviews, raving about the region's phenomenal releases.
