A marvellous, lean, moustached celebration of the mighty Cab Franc. Meet Captain Francis Frobisher, otherwise known as CABARET FRANK.
The wine features bright notes of juicy red fruits, complemented by blackcurrant leaf notes typical of Cabernet Franc. It is smooth and medium-bodied, offering an easy-drinking experience. The wine strikes a lovely balance with blackberry, plum, and dark cherry fruit characters, coupled with classic varietal leafy tones, making it a well-rounded and enjoyable wine.
This wine is made predominantly from Old Vine Cabernet Franc (85%), complemented by a harmonious blend of Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are harvested from 45-year-old vines in the single largest Cabernet Franc vineyard in the world, located in Lodi, Central California.
The grapes are sourced from old vines, specifically 45 years old, in the Lodi region of Central California. This area is renowned for its extensive Cabernet Franc vineyard, contributing to the wine's distinctive characteristics and depth.
After harvesting, the wine spends just two months on oak to allow the true flavours and characters of the Cabernet Franc and the touch of Cabernet Sauvignon to shine through. This brief aging period ensures that the oak does not overpower the varietal characteristics.
This is a food wine that really lends itself to vegetarian dishes. Try it with grilled eggplant or zucchini, or with meals containing green peppers (capsicums), cabbage, or herbs (particularly sage, thyme, rosemary or saffron). A versatile wine that is also fantastic with tomato based dishes; lighter meats such as turkey or chicken, along with game meats like duck; amd richer beef based dishes like steak or veal.
