Light yellow in colour with hints of lime green, the nose shows aromas of greener tropical fruit such as green melon, kiwi fruit and guava. This character is true to the Banghoek terroir - lots of gooseberry zip, linear, crisp and racy.
Pronounced SORG-fleet, which roughly translates as no worries, Zorgvliet is a small family-owned winery in Banghoek, one of the six ward†or districts of Stellenbosch. Zorgvliet is a stunning spot at one end of the Simonsberg Mountain on the beautiful Helshoogte Pass (Hell's Heights) that winds between Stellenbosch and Franschoek. Head winemaker Neil Moorhouse is a delightful guy and extremely talented, as well as being very well connected with all the young garagiste types that come through the winery. Zorgvliet's exceptional mountain vineyards are amongst the highest in Stellenbosch.
Grapes are grown on north-facing slopes 10k from the sea on a combination of loam-sand top soil on clay. the vines are 7-11 years old.
Cool fermentation at 14ºC with selected French and local strains of yeast. After fermentation the wine was left on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks. No malo, no oak.
