A new organic Sauvignon from Marlborough!
The organic farming seems to capture more texture and this is a deliciously limpid, zesty Sauvignon replete with classic Marlborough aromatics and pink grapefruit notes on the palate.
Boutinot's New Zealand wines are sourced from vineyards in each sub-regions of Marlborough - the Awatere, Waihopai and Wairau Valleys, as well as the breezier region of Waipara. These valleys have their own micro-climates and terroir which give a unique personality to the vineyards, grapes and finished wines.
2021 was a cruelly short vintage yet the resulting available fruit proved to be packed with concentrated flavour. In November 2020 a severe frost proved calamitous to the young buds, followed by flailing hail and then major drought in the 3 months prior to the harvest. Much of this inclemency is down to the clouds that define New Zealand's climate. A fleeting hail storm can wreak havoc in a vineyard, just as the absence of clouds will lead to frost in cold climes and drought in the summer. Passing giants celebrates those unpredictable and wine-defining elements in this organic and distinctly Marlborough Sauvignon.
Pairs well with pad thai, thai fish cakes or any dishes with South-East Asian flavours such as lime, chilli and coriander.
